Morse Sounder Iambic Key Assembly Instructions

Components

  • 1 x Key PCB (also includes sounder back panels)
  • 1 x 1593P enclosure
  • 1 x battery holer
  • 1 x 3.5mm jack
  • 1 x switch
  • 2 x AT42QT1011 (capacitive sense IC)
  • 2 x IRFML82244TRPBF Transistors
  • 2 x 22K Resisitors
  • 2 x 2.2nF Capacitor
  • 2 * 100nF Capacitor
  • 1 X length of ribbon (optional)

Tools Required

  • Soldering iron - ideally with a small tip in order to do the surface mount components.
  • Side-cutters
  • (Recommended) Helping hands or other PCB support tool.

Steps

1. Separate the pcbs from one another and clean up any lumps after separating.

2. Check the fit of the paddles into the front panel, there will likely be some points that need filing down to get a good fit it will be quite tight fit as this will avoid putting stress on the rear solver joints.

3. Remove the paddles from the panel and solder the components onto the pack of the front panel.

4. Reinstall the paddles and solder them to the panel.

5. Install the 3.5mm jack and switch and secure with their nuts.

6. Solder the wires from the jack to the pads on the panel and also solder a wire from the switch to the VCC pad on the panel.

7. Solder the black wire from the battery pack to the panel and the red wire to the switch.

8. Cut of the two PCB support pillars on the side of the case with the switch and jack.

9. Install the panel into the case and the battery pack into the back.

10. Optional: glue the ribbon to the bottom of the battery pack (this can be used to help pull the batteries out) and glue the battery holder into the case.

11. Secure the case together with the screws.

12. Check for correct operation and use.
