YEAR IN REVIEW
- Exams Secretary
We have done exams. We have done some foundation, intermediate, and full, including some from Itchen Valley. We also have a better-organised system for providing equipment for the practicals, thanks to SUSU funding.
- Node Deployment Officer
Gone. Dave Newman speaking on behalf. We haven't deployed many nodes this year, but we are ensuring the sustainability of our infrastructure by doing stuff with SSL. We will generally be deploying nodes only to members, at least we won't be actively seeking out people. We will have SOWN@coordinates.
- President
Stuff. One of the biggest things has been the mast; we are closer than ever to having a shack again, in the building we had a shack in a long time ago. So we've almost got back what we lost. We are growing with lots of new members; the number of people doing practicals today is indicative of that. Hopefully with the mast coming it'll be even better.
- Licensing Officer
Absent. We have not lost our licence, as far as Darren is aware. Licensing changes through Ofcom mean we should be able to acquire back G8KMI, since you're not allowed to hold the licence if you're not affiliated. We can certainly ask for it back, since we now nearly have a shack and we're definitely serious.
- Secretary
The new meeting structure has been successful, with plenty more stuff getting done. Our relationship with SUSU is good, we have not been disaffiliated. I have attended the health and safety training. We are now in the Democracy and Creative Industries zone, which really helps for funding, and we are forming new relationships with clubs and societies in SUSU.
- Social Secretary
We have successfully had a meal at the Crown most weeks, with limited effort. We had a successful beer festival social. T-shirts and polo shirts and fleeces were bought, with correct designs this year. We have set up a Wordpress blog.
- Treasurer
Balance Chart We have money. Congrats to Tyler and Murray. Most of that money is allocated to mast. We have been doing rudimentary budgeting and bookkeeping for the first time, very useful for Darren as he likes writing things on multiple sheets of paper. Accounts are available on request. We have members. Members are good. We have some half members and full members. Increasingly membership is shifting to undergrads, which is good.
- Webmaster
Absent. Dave says we have a Wordpress site. It is mobile friendly. Not much else has been going on, various issues with Wikis have been resolved, in particular permissions.
COMMITTEE POSITIONS REVIEW
- A new non-Officer committee portfolio for facilities management.
- Including equipment/inventory? That would make sensee.
