Amateur Radio

Licence Exams

How did the last exam session go?
- Very well
- Everyone passed
- People have licences, callsigns and equipment
Upcoming exams
- Don't know yet
- Henry to follow up from David Henley
Scheduled (non-Thursday) sessions for practical stuff

How to unbreak the members page

Delete the "has left" line from the member page
- The form needs updating to set this to false rather than No, or something, maybe.

Outings

Next outing date, location and plan
- After exams in January
- Milford-on-Sea?
- Make a definitive list for things we need for outings.

Transport
- Minibus from SUSU last time
  - Now horrendously expensive
- Ferries feasible
  - Shuttle car from station/car bringing kit?
- Members' cars
  - Very feasible depending on availability

Need to decide on setup
- MAKE SURE WE HAVE EVERYTHING WITH US!!!11!!!11!!!11!1111!!!1!!11!!!!1

SUSU Antenna Array

Progress
SUWS repaying members for items they have bought for the array
- Henry needs money for Reel of RG213m, rotator controller cable and Triplexer
- Does Graeme still need paying for the rotator itself?
  - Yes
- They both need to provide an invoice
- It can be a self-made invoice
What do we still need?
Contact with E&F and SUSU Estates
- Have had a response. Need to contact E&F to arrange meeting (Murray)
  - We need to use an approved contractor or find someone to become an approved contractor.
  - Murray and {Daveruss, Tyler} need to decide a meeting date. Preferably outside the SUSU building so they know what we're on about.
- SUSU Estates email still hasn't gone out, sorry!
Speaking/meeting with other societies/SUSU
- Not really happened yet
Potential Shack in SUSU may cease to be bookable again and become an office.
- According to Darren this is not yet a thing, in that people still think it's being a clubs/socs room.
- We would still have access out of hours if it did happen :)

CubeSat

Any more information / contact with CubeSat group
- No
- Design is progressing, not much else.

Newsletter

Wiki page | Google Doc
A few tweaks/finalisations required
- Add VHF NFD, make it and end of 2014 newsletter.
- Collate VHF NFD pictures.
We need a list of people to whom to send it.

Tyler absent, deferred to next meeting.

QSL Cards

QSL card design competition
- Is this every going to close?
- Have we applied for any funding for this?
Received QSL cards
- Scan so can be uploaded to the website
- Also put in a physical album

Chilbolton Atmospheric Radio Observatory

Mentioned by Quentin - could probably get a free visit/tour as a uni club.
- Ping them an email to determine their attitude

- But we do have a piece of paper, temporarily

- Darren has approved of the concept, but expects an email with a list of books to be bought

SUSU H&S meeting

We apparently need to go, but have not been threatened with DISAFFILIATION.
Murray needs to go, as he's secretary, or Tyler as he's president
Murray will figure out when he's free and go

AOB

For SUSU to change the 25 members limit would be easier as it's a bylaw compared to if it were a rule
But they don't apparently destroy societies when they drop below 25, otherwise most socs would be gone, so we're totally fine.
